(Hey, I’m posting a letter I wrote about this site and the 2007 Southern Forester. I asked my friend at UT to read it out loud at the 2009 Conclave Executives Meeting. This is for those who were not at that meeting.)
Hello all,
My name is Stuart Wilson; I represented UT at conclave for the past 3 years and was ASFC president in 2007 when Tennessee hosted. I wrote this letter to update you on two projects I started in 2007. This first is the Southern Forester for that year. I am sorry it took a couple years but it is complete. The final version is in the mail to UT now and will be available as soon as they get it DVDs pressed. I am personally to blame from the delay and am very sorry. The DVD can be played on a regular DVD player or in a computer and contains limited video footage of events, the ESPN coverage that aired on ESPNU, along with results and numerous pictures. Also I have created a printable PDF version that is both on the DVD and was posted to the website asfc-conclave.org earlier this week.
Which brings me to my next topic, the website. Some of you may remember or heard that I was working on setting up a website for the ASFC to try to improve communication and community between conclaves. The site is up and I have created one user account per school. The individual reading this letter should have this information to pass out. To log in, go to ASFC-conclave.org and click on “log in” in the bottom right hand corner of the page. By logging in you will be able to write posts to the homepage and comment on other people’s posts. Also currently on the website is results from past conclaves and scanned copies of some of the Southern foresters from previous years. I hope this site will aid in extending the ASFC community outside of the conclave event itself and will become a good resource for those involved and the organization as a whole. I hope all of you will visit and contribute to the site. It will be as good as you make it.
I feel that I gained a lot from my conclave experiences, and this is my way of giving back. I am happy to administer and update the site to aid the community, so please feel free to email me with questions, problems, and requests. The email address is ASFCweb@gmail.com
